Building a Depot

The intent of "The Zachow Project" is to build an exact replica of the C&NW Standard #3 depot from the town and display a miniature diorama of the town inside as it existed in the mid to late 1940s.

Following are pictures of the original depot in the early days of its history about 1910 and the recreated structure as it was being built.

To that end ground was broken in Shawano, WI at Heritage Park of the Shawano County Historical Society in 2011.

Just as in times past real dimensional lumber is used to frame the structure. A 2X4 is just that-- 2" X 4"! Drop siding and double-hung windows are also featured.

Insulation is better than that used in 1906 and will help to provide year-round comfort for this museum.
